Under his own license, Mr. John B. Collins, AIA, has lead the design process on nearly 50,000 square feet of residential and 62,00 square feet of commercial projects in the Denver Metro Area. With his pleasant, affable demeanor, intense wit, and willingness to track through all the details of a project, he works to ensure that every project gets a complete set of drawings from which the contractor can build. These are suitable for building department submission and approval. He designs and drafts using state-of-the-art computer technology, adherence to the required International building Codes, and the latest in building technology.
With nearly 37 years experience, over 20.5 million square feet of space built amounting to over $500 million in construction costs and over 300 clients served, Mr. Collins brings his wealth of experience to Denver, Co and the Front Range.
For residential projects, he can count numerous garage additions, single family residences, multifamily town homes, and high rise hotels and apartment buildings. For commercial projects, he's been involved with office buildings, data processing centers, offices, restaurants, country clubs, churches, retail complexes, and assisted living facilities.
After graduating with an M. Arch from the University of Washington in Seattle, he moved to New York City to learn the art, science, and practice of building buildings. While there, he worked on such diverse projects as the Anchorage Performing Arts Center in Alaska and the New West Apartment building in Manhattan's Upper West Side.
In 1993, he moved with his family to Denver, CO to pursue an opportunity with David Tryba architects. Subsequently, he moved to Gensler where he worked for several years before going out on his own.
